Delhi has a very long history of many centuries. It has been an important political Centre of India as the capital of several powerful empires. Similarly, Delhi has communities from different regions of the country, who brought their own culture, fairs and festivals into the Delhi’s life.
People beyond Vindhyas started coming to Delhi in search of jobs and their livelihood long before India became independent and as such their footprints can be traced very much in the pre-independence era also. Some of the milestones in the community and cultural arena of Delhi are 84 years old Kerala Club born in the house of Shri KPS Menon, later India’s first Foreign Secretary and started way back in the year 1939, Delhi Malayalee Association (DMA) established in the year 1949 as a premier socio cultural organization, many other organizations and also the Kerala Muslim Welfare Association (KMWA), Delhi established on 15th April 1988. It is really heartening that both these DMA and KMWA were established on the Vishu Day, but 45 years apart, as DMA has completed and celebrating 75 years of existence while KMWA completed 35 years on 14th April 2023.
The KMWA Delhi, on completion of the three and a half decades of existence in the history of Delhi definitely remembers all those who walked for conceptualizing and setting up of this organization, walked with to bring it to this day’s glorious status and those who walked along to fulfil the long time dream of its own Centre in Delhi and finally who walk ahead to lead and manage the affairs of the organization in the most appropriate way.
Let us all remember and pray for our first President of the organization Mr. ABOO BAKER, who left for his heavenly abode on 27th January 2021, but his hard works in bringing the congregation to a structured association by getting it registered under Societies Registration Act 1860 during the year 1990 in Delhi and will always remain as a reason for him to get the continuous virtues from Almighty God in his hereafter death also.
