Sad demise of Janab Aboo Baker Sahib, the First President of KMWA, Delhi on 27th January 2021

 

Assalamu alaikum, Inna lillahi vainna ilaihi rajioon.  The very purpose for which the Kerala Muslim Welfare Association, Delhi was set up with its first President Mr. Aboo Baker Sir, felt to be not fully achieved on hearing today the extremely disturbing news of his departing from this world on 27^th January 2021, yes I mean 2021, during the peak Covid-19 Pandemic in Delhi.  Aboo Baker Sir was 86 years old at the time of his death.    

As usual, this time also during our Annual Social Get-together for Communal Harmony and Iftar Program, I attempted to contact and inform him, but the phone was not answered.  Again today, 06^th April 2023, I called and the call was answered by his wife, who informed me about the tragic event, which to me is like a real personal loss altogether.  Though many of our near and dears bid farewell by becoming the victims to the Covid situation in Delhi, in this highly advanced communication era, we were able to hear about all of them to condole, pray for them and to stand with the bereaved families, but this is felt to be the most unfortunate chapter of our Association’s history of 35 years completing on next week, exactly on 14^th April as the first meeting of the Association was held on a Friday afternoon of 15^th April 1988 in Lodhi Gardens.  The restricted movements and even the protocol of allowing only 5 people to attend the last rites for the deceased etc., may be taken as some solace from our guilty feeling.  

However, now our Association is vibrant with the able management and leadership supported by thousands of well-wishers including members and Students community, added strength of KMWA Centre at Mayur Vihar, let us hope to learn more from all our experiences to go further to work for the well-being of all especially the Keralites in Delhi, God willing.

Mr. Aboo Baker’s family comprises his two daughters, one son, all are in US and Russia, and his wife, who is currently in Dwarka Delhi since last one month or so, else stays with the children or in Kerala.
